Does this happen to you? You’re listening to the radio and suddenly you’re caught by the beginning of a familiar song you like a lot. It’s like seeing a favorite friend coming down the street. The smiling face and wave is the intro, but the really good stuff is coming up.
A song that never fails to elicit this reaction from me is Nina Simone’s version of Feelin’ Good. “Birds flying’ high. You know how I feel…” and then that perfect downbeat.
